Hello
My name is Rusne Fokiene, and I am an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (MBACP) registered with BACP, adhering to their Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct in my practice.
Since 2019, I have been working with adults at Iceni (Ipswich) and now continue my therapeutic journey in a private practice as well as collaborating with various charitable organisations on a freelance short term basis.
Well-being is not just a destination—it’s a journey of healing, growth, and self-discovery. My mission is to support individuals in reclaiming their sense of balance and inner strength, no matter what they have faced in the past or are navigating today.

ABOUT ME & HOW I WORK
When I moved to the UK from Lithuania in 2007, I arrived with a foundation in nursing and physiotherapy yet found myself facing the challenge of starting anew — navigating an unfamiliar language, a different culture, and the uncertainty of beginning again. What helped me through that transition were the relationships I formed along the way. Embracing life with an open heart led me to meaningful connections, people who expanded my perspectives, and experiences that shaped my path in ways I could never have imagined.
In 2013, I founded my massage therapy practice, supporting clients with repetitive strain injuries and chronic tension. Through this work, I began to see again how deeply the body holds our emotional stories. Soft tissue therapy could ease pain, yet for some people the symptoms persisted, pointing toward something deeper: unresolved stress, unspoken emotions, and relational wounds that lived in the nervous system.
This realisation sparked a profound curiosity in me. I became fascinated by the interplay between the body, mind, and the relationships that shape us. I wanted to understand why people repeat certain patterns, why emotional pain shows up physically, and how healing truly happens when we feel safe, seen, and supported.
In 2018, I began my studies at Middlesex University London, completing my BSc (Hons) in Integrative Counselling in 2023. Alongside my training, I worked with Iceni Ipswich, a charity supporting families affected by substance misuse and relationship harm. This experience deepened my understanding of how early experiences, attachment patterns, and relational trauma influence the way we connect, protect ourselves, and navigate intimacy throughout life.
Reflecting on my journey, I see how personal growth unfolds when we allow ourselves to be supported — by mentors, by therapeutic relationships, and by the shared wisdom of lived experience. Through ongoing study in neuroscience, psychology, and holistic well‑being, I have come to trust deeply in our universal capacity for healing. When we take ownership of our emotional world, new possibilities open: healthier relationships, clearer boundaries, and a steadier sense of self.
HOW I WORK
My therapeutic approach is grounded in the belief that healing happens in relationship — with a safe other, with the body, and ultimately with yourself. I work integratively, drawing from relational, somatic, and mindfulness‑based approaches to support deep, sustainable change.
Relational Depth
Our therapeutic relationship becomes a safe, attuned space where you can explore how you relate to others. Patterns that show up in your life often appear gently in the therapy room, allowing us to understand them with compassion and curiosity. This work helps you develop healthier, more secure ways of connecting.
Somatic Awareness
Emotions live in the body.
I help you tune into physical sensations, tension, impulses, and the signals of your nervous system. As you learn to understand these cues, you begin to regulate more effectively, feel grounded, and reconnect with your inner sense of safety.
Mindfulness & Presence
Mindfulness helps you slow down, notice your internal experience, and respond rather than react. This creates space for clarity, choice, and emotional balance — especially in relationships.
Trauma‑Informed Practice
Your pace is always respected.
We work gently, with awareness of how past experiences shape present‑day reactions, relational patterns, and beliefs about yourself.
Practical Application
Alongside deep exploration, I offer tools for:
• communication
• boundaries
• emotional regulation
• self‑soothing
• navigating conflict
• building healthier relational patterns
